Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (ATSMU) was founded in 1939 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. It is one of the oldest government medical universities in the world. As a top medical university, it offers excellent education in various disciplines such as general medicine, surgery, gynaecology, etc.
By the end of 1988, the university had more than 50 doctors on its staff, more than 300 medical students, and around 65 faculty members teaching various subjects. The university started its 5-year MBBS program with internships included for foreign students in the year 2010.
